Christopher Mitchell specializes in civil litigation, with emphasis on medical, automobile, and premises liability claims. He has handled cases in the federal and state courts throughout metropolitan Washington, DC and in other jurisdictions, obtaining substantial recoveries by judgment or settlement for his clients who have suffered the wrongdoing of others.
Before joining Stein, Mitchell & Muse, he served as law clerk to Judge John Bayly of the District of Columbia Superior Court, and was a litigation associate at Collier, Shannon, Rill & Scott in Washington, DC. Having also previously worked in the field of orchestra management, he takes pride in winning cases for injured musicians, such as a symphony conductor with severe shoulder injuries when struck by a car while crossing the street, a soprano whose opera career was cut short by negligent chest surgery which impaired her breathing, and a concert pianist disabled from performing after a rear-end collision.
Mr. Mitchell has been admitted to practice in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. He is member of the American Bar Association, the American Association for Justice, the Maryland Association for Justice, and the Trial Lawyers Association of Metropolitan Washington, DC. He has served the District of Columbia Bar as the elected Co-Chair of the Tort Law Section's Steering Committee. His community activities have included board membership with the Washington Chorus, the Washington International Piano Festival, and the John Carroll Society.
Mr. Mitchell received his B.A. in 1984 from Harvard University and his J.D. in 1987 from Georgetown University.
