Moises (Moe) Vela, Jr. is a longtime Washington insider with a diverse background in law, politics, and business. He brings his expertise as Of Counsel to Stein Mitchell Cipollone Beato & Missner LLP in the areas of regulatory and government affairs, public policy, political strategy, business growth consulting, and Latino advocacy and outreach. In addition, Mr. Vela is the President and CEO of The Vela Group, a global business development consulting firm with clients in the U.S. and Latin America. Through this venture, he brings a global international network of high profile leaders and decision makers to his clients and to Stein Mitchell Cipollone Beato & Missner LLP..
Mr. Vela served in President Obama’s administration as the Director of Management and Administration in the Office of Vice President Joe Biden in the White House. Prior to that, he served as Chief Financial Officer and Senior Advisor on Public Affairs for Vice President Al Gore. Mr. Vela holds the distinction of being the first and only Hispanic American to serve twice in a senior executive role in the White House.
Mr. Vela comes from a family devoted to public service, with his father and uncle both serving as judges. His cousin, Filemon Vela, is currently a U.S. Congressman representing Texas’ 34th congressional district.
Mr. Vela was the founder and first chairman of the Alabama Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. He also led the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals as Executive Director, overseeing the 12,000-member organization including its 35 affiliate chapters.
As part of Mr. Vela’s advocacy work, he is frequently invited to keynote events and serve on panels. He has been featured in several national publications and has been named one of the “Top 100 Hispanics in America” by “Hispanic Business” magazine and was twice named as one of the “101 Most Influential Latinos” by “Latino Leaders” magazine.
