Megan Benevento, Samantha Christensen, and Nicholas Cannon join Stein Mitchell’s partnership
Stein Mitchell is very pleased to announce that Megan Benevento, Samantha Christensen, and Nicholas Cannon have joined the partnership. Megan and Samantha were made partners after several years as associates with the firm, and contributing to a number of successes for the firm, and Nick comes to the firm after a long and accomplished career as a federal prosecutor.
A graduate of Georgetown University Law Center, Megan has built a reputation among the bench and bar as an ardent advocate and as a creative litigator. In 2018, the Maryland Daily Record named her to its VIP List (“Very Important Professionals” under 40) based on her courtroom achievements, leadership, and a commitment to inspiring change. Maryland legislators have sought her input on pending legislation as a prominent state litigator and she has repeatedly testified as a subject matter expert before the Maryland House and Senate Judiciary Committees. She has also been recognized as a Super Lawyers Rising Star in both Maryland and D.C. for multiple years. She has first chaired a jury trial and secured a complete defense verdict for our client in a defamation action, and has been a key contributor on a number of other civil litigation matters.
After graduating from Notre Dame Law School, Samantha served as counsel to the Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights at the U.S. Department of Education, where she advised the Assistant Secretary on significant legal and policy issues. Since joining Stein Mitchell she has argued motions and examined key witnesses at multiple hearings and trials for some of the most important matters of the firm, each of which resulted in either a complete win or a highly favorable settlement.
A graduate of the University of Richmond Law School, Nick spent 16 years as a prosecutor with the United States Department of Justice, investigating and prosecuting a wide variety of cases including securities fraud, cybercrime, public corruption, and money laundering. Prior to joining the firm, Nick served as Senior Litigation Counsel at the Public Integrity Section where he handled some of the Department's most sensitive public corruption investigations. Nick has tried over 35 jury trials and has handled federal appeals as well. His practice focuses on government investigations, congressional inquiries, white collar criminal prosecutions, and wrongful death and serious personal injury cases.
